Bruins’ Brad Marchand On Canucks: ‘There’s Definitely A Hatred There’

Games between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks have become must-see television since the two teams developed an intense rivalry during the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.

Vancouver will make its only trip to TD Garden this season when it plays the Bruins at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday night.

When they met back in December at Rogers Arena, the banter between these rivals continued when Bruins forward Brad Marchand did a mock raising of the Stanley Cup while skating past the Canucks bench. It was a gesture that prompted Vancouver center Ryan Kesler to say that Marchand has “no class.”

After Tuesday’s morning skate, Marchand — who’s been at the center of several memorable moments from this rivalry — was asked about the Canucks and provided an honest take.

The Canucks’ previous trip to Boston was in January of 2012, and it was their first since Game 6 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. It was one of the most exciting regular-season games in recent memory and included an epic line brawl during the first period.

Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo, who gave up 14 goals in three games in Boston during the 2011 Cup Final, did not play in that game back in 2012, but he will start Tuesday night when a struggling Vancouver team looks for its third straight win over the Bruins.
