jarome iginlaThe NHL is on a two-week hiatus as many of its stars take the ice at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, but even that can’t stop the Boston Bruins from winning.

Bruins forward Jarome Iginla was named one of the league’s three stars of the week, the NHL announced Monday, after his impressive performance in three games last week. Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, who went 3-0 with a 1.000 goals against average on the week, earned the first star, while Dallas Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen, who went 2-0-1 with a 1.32 GAA, was named the second.

Iginla notched two goals and three assists with a plus-5 rating last week. His production helped the Bruins to a 2-0-1 record, earning five points on the week and extending their lead as the Eastern Conference’s top team.

The Olympic break couldn’t come at a worse time for Iginla, who has been on fire recently. The 36-year-old ranks second on the Bruins with 43 points this season (17 goals and 26 assists). He’s totaled four goals and 14 points over the Bruins’ last eight games.

A three-time Olympian, Iginla won’t be competing for Team Canada in Sochi this time around.
