The Boston Bruins promoted two prospects Monday, recalling goalie Niklas Svedberg and forward Matt Lindblad from Providence. Both were on the ice for the team’s practice Monday morning.
Only Svedberg has played a game for the big club this season, earning the win in a 3-2 overtime victory over the Nashville Predators in his NHL debut on Jan. 3.
The Swedish netminder has compiled a 20-11-3 record with a 2.71 goals against average and .910 save percentage in 35 games with the P-Bruins this season.
Lindblad’s first career NHL call-up came last Friday. He practiced once with the team, which was short-staffed over the Olympic break, before being sent back to Providence. A Dartmouth College product, Lindblad has played in 37 games this season for the Baby B’s, tallying seven goals and 11 assists.
With center Patrice Bergeron still absent after playing in the gold medal game Sunday in Sochi, Lindblad skated on the third line with Chris Kelly and Daniel Paille during practice Monday, according to Dan Cagen of the MetroWest Daily News.
The Bruins resume their regular-season schedule Wednesday against the Buffalo Sabres.
