The Cleveland Browns are shaking up their front office after just one season.
General manager Michael Lombardi is leaving the Browns, and CEO Joe Banner is set to step down in May. The Browns are promoting Ray Farmer to general manager, the team announced.
Lombardi and Banner were hired last January after Jimmy Haslam bought the team for $1 billion in October 2012. The Browns went 4-12 under head coach Rob Chudzinski in 2013.
Chudzinski was fired in December after just one season and replaced by former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. The Browns have gone either 4-12 or 5-11 in each of the last six seasons.
The Browns hold the Nos. 4 and 26 overall picks in May’s NFL draft. The Browns traded running back Trent Richardson to the Colts during the 2013 season for the No. 26 pick.
Lombardi worked with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick with the Browns in the mid-’90s. Lombardi was Belichick’s director of player personnel.
