FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Boston Red Sox have taken plenty of swings since the full squad reported to spring training Thursday. David Ortiz and Co. swung for the fences inside JetBlue Park on Tuesday.
The Red Sox’s previous batting practice sessions were held on one of Fenway South’s six fields located outside the home of Boston’s spring training games. The Red Sox took aim at JetBlue’s replica Green Monster on Tuesday, though, and a few players cleared the big left field wall.
Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Mike Napoli, Will Middlebrooks and others participated in the BP session. Some highlights included Napoli peppering the Monster with three straight balls and Pedroia hitting an absolute laser that sailed well beyond the wall.
