David Ortiz is a Boston Red Sox icon, and it showed Tuesday when he took time to sign autographs at spring training.

Fans rushed for a chance at Ortiz’s signature, presenting him with a variety of items to sign.

“David, David, please sign my champagne bottle!” one fan yelled, according to WEEI’s Mike Petraglia. “Right on the label!”

Ortiz hasn’t formally addressed the media at spring training about his future in Boston — his current deal ends after this season — but that hasn’t diminished his popularity with the Boston faithful.

Ortiz’s playoff production is especially legendary among fans, from his late-night, game-winning magic in 2004 against the New York Yankees to his unbelievable 2013 postseason performance, which spurred the Red Sox to another World Series title.

For now, Sox fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for the designated hitter. In the meantime, check out some fans clamoring for Ortiz’s autograph in the video below.
