If Jimmie Johnson forgot how it feels to win the Daytona 500, he was mistakenly reminded Sunday evening.

Severe storms delayed the “Great American Race” after 38 laps, so FOX Sports elected to replay last year’s season opener, in which Johnson won the 500 for the second time in his career. The network’s seemingly simple decision led to mass confusion on the interwebs, however. FOX Sports ran a crawl along the bottom of the screen, informing viewers they were watching the 2013 race, but apparently that wasn’t enough.

Countless fans failed to realize they were watching an event that had already happened, and by the time the replay was coming to an end, Johnson was trending nationally on Twitter. The six-time champion’s friends were even confused as to what they were seeing on their televisions, blowing up Johnson’s phone with congratulatory text messages and phone calls. One fellow driver even got in on the fun.

Fortunately for those at home, the race has resumed, and Johnson will attempt to become the first driver to win the event twice in one day.
