Experience Ride Down Sochi Snowboard Slopestyle Course In GoPro Video

The snowboard slopestyle course at the Sochi Olympics has come under scrutiny after Team USA favorite Shaun White announced Wednesday that he would not be participating in the event at the Winter Games. White fell on the course and jammed his wrist during a practice run Tuesday, and at least two other Olympic athletes have suffered injuries on the course.

After his fall, White called the course “intimidating,” and other athletes who have ridden it used the words “sketchy,” “dangerous” and “obnoxiously tall” to describe the course and its ramps, according to the New York Times. The final three jumps of the course involve vertical drops of 101 feet, 92 feet and 85 feet, respectively — and that’s not counting the extra height athletes get from jumping off the ramps.

Russian Olympic snowboarder Alexey Sobolev donned a GoPro camera and took a ride down the infamous course. Check it out in the video below.
