Grady Sizemore hasn’t played in a professional baseball game since 2011, and after signing a one-year contract with the Boston Red Sox this offseason, he’s hungry to get back on the diamond and earn a roster spot.

The 31-year-old outfielder has been tested mentally and physically after suffering a barrage of injuries in recent years, but he told NESN on Tuesday that he’s looking forward “to getting healthy and staying healthy” with the Red Sox. The three-time All-Star is approaching the upcoming season with cautious optimism, but he couldn’t hide his excitement at being back on the field with his new teammates.

Sizemore joined Tom Caron on the set of Red Sox LIVE from Fort Myers to discuss the 2014 season. Check it out in the video above.
