Jason Collins Checks In Against Lakers, Gets Standing Ovation (Video)


Jason Collins made history when he checked into Sunday’s Brooklyn Nets game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Collins, who signed a 10-day contract with the Nets on Sunday afternoon, was in a Brooklyn uniform for Sunday night’s game against L.A. The 35-year-old checked into the game in the second quarter with the Nets leading the Lakers, 35-28, to become the first openly gay male athlete to appear in the NBA or any of America’s four biggest professional sports.

The announcement was met with loud applause and a standing ovation from the Staples Center crowd.
