Curt Schilling announced this week that he has been diagnosed with cancer. The news really hit home for the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox offered their heartfelt thoughts via the club’s official Twitter account shortly after Schilling’s announcement. Jon Lester and Shane Victorino also sent their well wishes to the former Red Sox pitcher.

Lester, of course, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the middle of the 2006 season. He underwent successful treatment and returned to the mound in 2007.
