Max Pacioretty Sets NHL Record With Two Penalty Shots In One Period (Video)

Montreal Canadiens winger Max Pacioretty became the first player in NHL history to be granted two penalty shots in one period during Montreal’s 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night.

The first penalty shot was awarded when Canucks defenseman and former teammate Raphael Diaz took a scoring chance away from Pacioretty, and the second attempt was given when Vancouver forward Alexandre Burrows tripped the Montreal winger.

Pacioretty missed both penalty shots against Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo in the second period. It wasn’t all bad for Pacioretty, though, as he scored three times in the game to complete a hat trick.
