Move over Steel Curtain, ’85 Bears and No-Name Defense. The Legion of Boom has arrived.
Defensive end Michael Bennett said his Super Bowl XLVIII champion Seattle Seahawks boast the best defense of all time.
“We’re the best defense ever,” Bennett told Josh Katzowitz of CBS Sports after Sunday night’s game at MetLife Stadium. “We could have played anybody today and it would have been the same thing.”
The Seahawks were statistically the best defense in the NFL this season. And after holding Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos’ No. 1 offense to just eight points in a 43-8 win, the Seahawks have a case for the “best ever” honor.
Bennett is a free agent in 2014, and after dominating against the run and pass, he’ll draw a high price tag on the open market. It might be wise for the Seahawks to lock him up before any other team has a chance to sign him.
