Jack ParkerNew England Sports Network announced today that the Saturday, February 15 Hockey East conference game between the University of New Hampshire and Boston University will be broadcast as the first of NESN’s “Flex” games for the season. The two teams will face-off at 7 p.m. at Boston University’s Agganis Arena.

In addition to showcasing one of the league’s great rivalries, the event will feature a special ceremony between the first and second period at which time Boston University will retire the jersey of the Terriers’ legendary coach and former captain Jack Parker. Parker, a three-year varsity player in the Class of 1968, retired last March after 40 years behind the BU bench.

In addition to the previously announced slate of games, “Flex” games allow NESN to select a game that carries added significance as the season-long schedule unfolds. NESN will select other “Flex” games for broadcast on February 28 and March 1. Those matchups will be announced on February 15.
