Patrice BergeronThe Boston Bruins and their fans got a pretty big — albeit brief — scare Sunday while watching Team Canada play in Olympic action in Sochi.

Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron appeared to be in a good amount of pain after he was hit with a Shea Weber slap shot from the point. Bergeron, who was camped out near the Team Finland goal, appeared to take the shot around the rib area.

Bergeron left the ice in pretty apparent pain, which makes sense given Weber has one of the hardest slap shots in the game. The NBC Sports telecast reported that Bergeron was getting attention from a Canadian trainer, but the Boston forward never left the bench. Shortly thereafter, Bergeron returned to the ice and assumed his position on Canada’s top line alongside Sidney Crosby and Jamie Benn.

Bergeron has had rib issues before. He played with a broken rib and torn cartilage during last season’s Stanley Cup Final.
