Rajon RondoRajon Rondo is still operating as though he will be a member of the Boston Celtics after Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, when the NBA trade deadline officially arrives. One thing is for certain, though: He won’t be wearing green on Saturday.

Rondo will continue to sit out the second leg of back-to-backs and miss Saturday’s game against the Sacramento Kings, he told reporters at practice in Phoenix on Tuesday. Assuming Rondo is still with the Celtics, that game would be the third in four games, far more of a strain than the Celtics are willing to put on Rondo’s right knee for now.

Rondo has played in 10 of the Celtics’ 14 games since he returned Jan. 17 against the Los Angeles Lakers. He is averaging 9.8 points and 7.1 assists per game, with single-game highs of 19 and 12, respectively. He has played as many as 37 minutes in a game but has yet to suit up in games on consecutive nights.
