The Arizona Diamondbacks have upgraded the depth of their starting rotation by reportedly signing veteran right-handed pitcher Bronson Arroyo to a two-year contract with an option for a third season.

Arroyo, 36, isn’t a top-three starter, but he’s a valuable pitcher because of his consistency, durability and postseason experience.
He went 14-12 with a 3.79 ERA, 124 strikeouts and a 1.15 WHIP in 32 games for the Cincinnati Reds last season. Arroyo has started 29 or more games in each of the last 10 years, the last eight of which were with the Reds.
Arroyo won a World Series championship with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, and offers the Diamondbacks valuable versatility with his ability to pitch out of the bullpen in the postseason.
