Some of the Seahawks’ youngest fans will be able to celebrate on the streets of Seattle without punishment.
Ballard High School and Roosevelt High School are allowing students to skip school for the Seahawks’ Super Bowl parade on Wednesday, according to the Seattle PI. The parade starts at 11 a.m. PT and will wrap up at CenturyLink Field at 1:30 p.m.
Seattle Public Schools superintendent Jose Banda originally declared that students who skip will suffer an attendance penalty, despite pleas from the city’s mayor.

“Parents who wish to take their students out of school can, but per state regulation, it will be treated as an unexcused absence,” Banda said.
Banda backed down, however, and said principals can decide whether to excuse absences. Two private schools, Seattle Prep and Burien Kennedy Catholic High School, have canceled classes for Wednesday.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday that he hoped students would be excused.
Around 500,000 people are expected to attend Wednesday’s parade. The streets are already starting to fill up.
