An injury kept San Jose Sharks center Tomas Hertl from competing in his first Olympics, but the rookie is still getting his chirps in from the sidelines.

Hertl hails from the Czech Republic, which will play the United States on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Olympic hockey tournament. The Czechs enter as underdogs after going 1-2 in the preliminary round and narrowly beating winless Slovakia in the first elimination game.

Hertl is confident about his nation’s chances, though. He tweeted out his prediction for the game Tuesday afternoon.

It’s unfortunate the 20-year-old wasn’t able to make the trip to Sochi for the games. A Hertl vs. T.J. Oshie shootout would be a sight to see.
