T.J. Oshie might have been the only person at the Scottrade Center on Tuesday night that believed his shot found its way into the back of the net.

During the second period against the Ottawa Senators, the St. Louis Blues forward took a cross-ice pass from Magnus Paajarvi and fired off a shot at a wide-open net. What looked to be a sure goal turned into some confusion on the ice, though, when no one seemed to know where the puck went. The Blues announcers were flummoxed that Oshie could have somehow missed the easy shot, but there was a simple answer for their disbelief: he didn’t miss.

While referees were reviewing the play to see whether Robin Lehner had made the save or whether the puck had sailed out of play, Oshie did a little investigating of his own. The Sochi-bound Oshie took a closer look at the net and started pointing emphatically to the top of it when he discovered the puck had gotten lodged in there.

Oshie’s goal tied the game at 1-1, but the Senators came away with the shootout victory, 5-4.

Check out the mysterious shot in the video below.
