Team USA earned a spot on the two-man bobsled podium Monday for the first time in more than six decades.
The team of Steve Holcomb and Steven Langton edged the Russia-2 sled by .03 seconds to earn the bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics, the country’s first medal in that discipline since 1952.
The top Russian team of Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda placed first to win the nation’s first Olympic gold in the event, and Switzerland’s Beat Hefti and Alex Baumann took silver.
Both Langton — a Melrose, Mass., native who ran track at Northeastern — and Holcomb also are part of Team USA’s top four-man sled, which is looking to defend its gold medal from the 2010 games in Vancouver.
