arielle goldAfter viewing video of U.S. Olympic snowboarder Arielle Gold’s crash during warm-ups earlier this week, it’s not difficult to see why she pulled herself out of the halfpipe competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Gold was spotted with her arm in a sling as American teammates Kaitlyn Farrington and Kelly Clark took gold and bronze, respectively, in the halfpipe event in Sochi, and a video Gold posted on her Facebook page Saturday revealed why.

The 17-year-old appeared to catch an edge near the bottom of the pipe during a training run, causing her upper body to crash down hard into the snow.

It was a pretty rough spill, but check out the video for yourself right here.
