Vote: Should The New England Patriots Cut Danny Amendola?

patsThe New England Patriots have plenty of question marks surrounding their receiving corps heading into the 2014 season, and what to do with wide receiver Danny Amendola is one of them.

Although Amendola dealt with injuries throughout the season that forced him to miss four games, he did show some chemistry with Tom Brady when he took the field. In 12 games in 2013, Amendola recorded 54 receptions for 633 yards and two touchdowns. He might not have lived up to all the lofty expectations this season, but do you think the Pats should cut Amendola?

The Patriots inked Amendola to a five-year, $28.5 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed in March. While cutting Amendola would free up some cap space, it might not be a significant enough amount to make the move worth it. If the team wants to free up $2.88 million — the most cap room possible by cutting Amendola — the Patriots would have to do so by March 11 and make Amendola a June 2 designation, according to Miguel Benzan of PatsCap.com.

The Patriots also will have to decide if they’ll re-sign free agent Julian Edelman this offseason, but they wouldn’t need to cut ties with Amendola to accomplish that.

New England will have some tough decisions to make in the coming months. Should Amendola be a part of the team in 2014? Voice your opinion in the poll below.
