Andrew Ference deserves a hero’s welcome on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden when the Boston Bruins host the Edmonton Oilers.
The defenseman was acquired by the B’s in 2007 and became a fan favorite in New England almost instantly. Ferknuckle helped the Bruins hoist a Stanley Cup in 2011, and nearly another in 2013 thanks to a stout defensive game and veteran leadership in the locker room. Ference, along with a forward, was traded by the Calgary Flames for for defenseman Brad Stuart and center Wayne Primeau seven years ago, on Feb. 10, 2007.
