Boston Red Sox pitcher Jake Peavy suffered the first bizarre injury of spring training with his fishing knife incident, but Ian Stewart wasn’t far behind him.

The Los Angeles Angels infielder, whom the team signed to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, was scratched from Monday’s start against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Angels manager Mike Scioscia told reporters that Stewart’s daughter clocked him in the nose while the two were playing, and the injury apparently was significant enough that it warranted a trip to the doctor.
