Brandon WorkmanThe Boston Red Sox finalized their 25-man roster for Opening Day, with right-hander Brandon Workman getting the seventh and final bullpen spot.

Workman recorded 16 strikeouts and gave up just two walks in 15 2/3 innings this spring. The 2010 second-round draft pick out of the University of Texas fills the vacancy in the bullpen left by the injured Craig Breslow, who will begin the season on the 15-day disabled list.

The Red Sox also dealt with the five remaining non-roster invites Saturday, releasing veteran right-hander Francisco Cordero and reassigning left-handed pitcher Tommy Layne, right-handed pitcher Brayan Villarreal, outfielder Corey Brown and infielder Mike McCoy to Triple-A Pawtucket.

The Red Sox open the 2014 season Monday afternoon at Camden Yards. Jon Lester will start for Boston and right-hander Chris Tillman will get the nod for the Orioles, with first pitch set for 3:05 p.m.
