While the Denver Broncos signed every player they could get their hands on after NFL free agency started, the Buffalo Bills added one player to their roster.
Their explanation? The weather.
The Bills signed offensive lineman Chris Williams on Wednesday, and general manager Doug Whaley said the team’s lack of free-agency activity was because of a blizzard that hit Buffalo on Tuesday.
“Today’s storm challenged us in terms of getting free agents in-and-out because teams like to get them in as soon as possible,” Whaley said in a statement, via FOX Sports. “It’s important to have plans for all scenarios. Today, we were prepared in dealing with this storm.
“We’re excited about this start to free agency and our plans moving forward. With the signing of Chris Williams, I am particularly excited about the direction our offensive line is moving in because we wanted to address this position and we feel like we filled the need with a very good player.”
The Bills, who finished 6-10 last season, lost one of their four 2013 Pro Bowl players to free agency when free safety Jairus Byrd signed with the New Orleans Saints.
