Kelly Olynyk, Chris BabbBOSTON — Assistant general manager Mike Zarren grabbed Chris Babb after Sunday’s game to pose one of the easiest questions the Iowa State product had ever answered: Do you want to stick around?

“Yeah, sure, why not?” Babb said. “I’ll stick around a few more days.”

Thus Babb’s career with the Boston Celtics was extended at least 10 more days as the undrafted rookie continues to build a place for himself in the NBA. Babb’s initial 10-day contract was due to expire at midnight Sunday, but despite some understandable trepidation on Babb’s part, there was never much doubt the Celtics wouldn’t retain him.

“I’d really like to have him around,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said before the Celtics’ 118-111 win over the Detroit Pistons. “We’ll see how (this game) goes, but all indications are that everybody feels that way within our organization.”

Babb, 24, scored two points in 12 minutes of action against the Pistons. He has averaged 3.3 points and 1.8 rebounds per game in four contests with the Celtics.
