BOSTON — The Bruins are playing out of their collective minds right now, as evidenced by the fact that they have now won 13 of their last 14 games. However, head coach Claude Julien and his club know there’s plenty of room for improvement still.
The B’s rolled to a 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night, and Boston has now gained a point in its last 14 games. The club’s March record is 12-1-1. The Bruins can clinch the Atlantic Division title on Saturday, and they hold a nine-point lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins for the Eastern Conference’s top seed, but they aren’t exactly content with everything in their game right now.
“We’re in the right position right now, as far as where you want to be at this time of year,” Julien said Thursday night. “Every, almost every game day morning, we spend time looking at an area where we feel might have slipped a little bit. So, we’re staying on top of things, too.
“Satisfied is not a word that exists in our dressing room. Happy is one thing, but you continue to strive to get better, and there’s always parts of your game, including tonight, that you want to get better at. So, we’re just, as a coaching staff, we just want to stay on top of those things and make sure we keep our guys sharp.”
The Bruins’ 14-game point streak is the club’s longest point streak since the B’s went 14-0-1 over a 15-game stretch during the 2011-12 season. Boston has allowed just 18 goals in its last 14 games and five in its last five games.
If the Bruins can extend their point streak to 15 on Saturday against the Washington Capitals, they will clinch the Atlantic Division. They also could do so with a Tampa Bay Lightning loss.
