Jim IrsayIndianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested in Carmel, Ind., late Sunday night on drunken driving charges, according to WISH-TV, which cites Hamilton County Jail officials and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Irsay was arrested at 11:41 p.m. He has been preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. He currently is at Hamilton County Jail.

Carmel police arrested Irsay after he was seen driving his Toyota Highlander slowly, stopping in the roadway and failing to signal a turn, Lt. Joe Bickel of the Carmel Police Department said in a press release, via the Indianapolis Star.

“During the course of the investigation, Irsay subsequently failed several roadside field sobriety tests,” Bickel said.

Officers searched the Highlander, and “multiple prescription drugs were discovered in pill bottles,” police said. “These Schedule IV prescription drugs were not associated with any prescription bottles found in the vehicle.”

Irsay faces four counts of felony possession of controlled substances.

Irsay said in October that he hadn’t had a drink in 15 years.
