Dustin Penner is just a guy who needs a place to crash until he gets settled in his new home of Washington, D.C., and he isn’t afraid to aim high when it comes to some free lodging.

The 31-year-old center was traded from the Anaheim Ducks to the Washington Capitals on Tuesday, so he wasted no time reaching out to a man he knows calls D.C. home — President Barack Obama.

Penner didn’t stop there, either. The newest member of the Caps presumably had some downtime while traveling, and he took the liberty of drafting an unofficial petition to let him sleep in the East Wing of the White House. But don’t worry, Penner will supply his own linens for whatever couch he chooses as his bed.

With Penner’s tweet receiving over 1,000 retweets, Obama might need to start getting worried about a 6-foot-4, 247-pound man missing a front tooth taking up residence in his home.
