Jared Allen visited the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, but the free-agent defensive end left without signing a new contract, ESPN’s Ed Werder reported.

Werder reported earlier in the day that Allen had agreed to sign with the defending Super Bowl champions, but there’s still a chance he’ll sign with them after mulling his offers over the weekend. Allen has visited the Seahawks twice.
The 11-year veteran tallied 11.5 sacks, 52 combined tackles and two forced fumbles in 16 games for the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. He has spent the last six seasons with Minnesota.
Allen is one of the few top-tier defensive linemen available. The former fourth-round draft pick has been an elite pass rusher for several years, and he’s still a quality player at 31 years old.
Allen would be a great fit with the New England Patriots, who desperately need an edge rusher to help Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich.
