FORT MYERS, Fla. — Jon Lester faced some Boston Red Sox farmhands Wednesday as part of a simulated game at Fenway South.
Lester threw 38 pitches over 2 2/3 innings Wednesday in what the left-hander described as a positive outing. Lester pitched a career-high 213 1/3 innings during the regular season last year before compiling another 34 2/3 innings over five playoff starts, so the Red Sox are monitoring the 30-year-old’s workload in camp, although he sounded ready to go after Wednesday’s sim game.
“I felt pretty good with everything today,” Lester said Wednesday. “I think that was a good step in the right direction for me this spring.”
Lester faced Justin Henry and Kendrick Perkins, among others, during Wednesday’s sim game. Check out some of the action in the video above.
