Kevin WareKevin Ware will not finish his college basketball career at Louisville.

Ware, who gained national attention nearly a year ago to the day when he suffered a gruesome broken leg in a win over Duke in the Elite Eight, is transferring to another school to finish his last year, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

“We wish Kevin Godspeed,” Louisville coach Rick Pitino said.

Ware returned to action on Nov. 6 in an exhibition game against Pikeville College in which he made his first shot, a 3-pointer. Ware made his regular-season return against Cornell on Nov. 15.

Ware averaged 1.7 points in nine games before suffering an injury to the same right leg in December. After the injury he decided to shut it down and seek a medical redshirt for the season.

Ware is looking to move to a school closer to his home in Georgia, according to ESPN, citing sources.

Louisville’s season ended on Friday against Kentucky in the Sweet 16.
