Opening Day is a beautiful thing.
Not only does Opening Day mean baseball is back, the slate is wiped clean and summer is on the horizon. It also means we can blow the dust off our respective crystal balls and make Major League Baseball predictions that might or might not look ridiculous once October rolls around.
There’s no shame in looking ridiculous, though. Even Nostradamus had his flaws. So with most teams kicking off their regular-season schedules Monday, there’s no time like the present to throw everything we have at the wall in the hopes something sticks in 2014.
Several surprises inevitably will pop up this season, effectively throwing a wrench into the following award predictions. But rather than worry about such surprises, let’s just get these predictions out there before second thoughts settle in.
