NFL Free Agency Live: Brandon LaFell, Patriots Agree On Three-Year Deal

Julius Peppers10:50 p.m.: The New England Patriots have bolstered their depth at wide receiver by agreeing to terms on a three-year deal with free agent Brandon LaFell, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

9:15 p.m.: According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Broncos “are expected to sign” free-agent receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

8:15 p.m.: The Patriots will reportedly host free-agent wide receiver Kenny Britt for a visit.

The New York Daily News reports, citing a source, that free-agent cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will visit the New York Giants. He also visited the Jets.

The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of offensive guard Shelley Smith. He visited the Patriots earlier in the week.

3:33 p.m.: Former Saints safety Roman Harper has agreed to a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Carolina Panthers that includes a $1.5 million signing bonus.

Ben Tate’s two-year deal with the Browns is worth up to $7 million.

2:59 p.m.: Wide receiver Julian Edelman has reached an agreement with the New England Patriots for another season.

2:36 p.m.: The Cleveland Browns have agreed to a two-year deal with former Texans running back Ben Tate.

Tate is already showing his excitement about his new home.

Tight end Zach Miller has signed a new contract with the Seahawks that will allow him $3 million per year for 2014 and 2015, with a $1 million incentive bonus.

12:30 p.m.: Matt Schaub will be the Oakland Raiders’ top target over the next few weeks.

The Raiders, who won only four games in 2013, intend to pursue a list of quarterbacks headed by Matt Schaub, followed by Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, and Michael Vick, in that order, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com.

9:20 a.m.: It looks like eight-time Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers has agreed to a 3-year deal with the Green Bay Packers, as reported by Josina Anderson of ESPN.

The signing was made official early Saturday morning.

The move keeps Peppers in the NFC North after spending the last four seasons with the Chicago Bears.

9 a.m. ET: The NFL free agency train is rolling, and there’s no stopping it now.

Former New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes is officially a member of the Buffalo Bills. The team tweeted out a video early Saturday morning showing Spikes signing his new contract. The Patriots improved their secondary thanks to a reported agreement with former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner.

Two of the biggest names on the rapidly diminishing free agent list on Friday were Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith. Both found new homes, Nicks with the Indianapolis Colts, and Smith with the Baltimore Ravens.
