President Barack Obama can’t be fast and loose when it comes to something like resolving the Ukraine-Russia Crimea conflict. You’d think he’d take his chances with his March Madness bracket.
But alas, Obama is going with some safe picks yet again in the 2014 NCAA tournament, the sixth year he’s filled out a bracket as President of the United States. Obama’s Final Four picks were revealed on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” on Tuesday night, with his full bracket coming out Wednesday morning.
Obama chose Arizona, Florida, Louisville and Michigan State for the Final Four.
He did take some risks, picking two No. 4 seeds to win their respective regions — Michigan State and Louisville. Both are perennial contenders with famous coaches, however, and Louisville won it all last year (as a No. 1 seed).
Obama’s other Final Four picks were Florida, the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, and Arizona, a No. 1 seed that led the college basketball rankings at times this season.
Obama has a reputation to uphold after landing in the 74.4th percentile with his choices on last year’s bracket. But he could have picked Harvard to make a little run, at least.
