Aqib Talib is leaving the New England Patriots for the enemy.
The former Patriots cornerback reached an agreement on a six-year, $57 million contract with the Denver Broncos, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal has $26 million guaranteed.
Talib spent part of 2012 and all of 2013 with the Patriots after being traded by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Last offseason, the Patriots gave Talib a one-year, $5 million contract. He strung together a solid 2013 and stayed out of trouble to nearly double his annual salary.
Talib had four interceptions in 13 games for the Patriots in 2013. He missed three games with a hip injury. He missed the second half of the Patriots’ AFC Championship loss to the Broncos with a knee injury.
