The New England Patriots will bring back their top wide receiver from 2013.
Julian Edelman has reached an agreement with the Patriots, a source told MassLive.com’s Nick Underhill. Edelman had received interest on the open market from the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, but decided to return to where he found success last season.

Edelman caught 105 passes for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns in 2013 as quarterback Tom Brady’s favorite target. Edelman was originally drafted in the seventh round by the Patriots in 2009. He converted from quarterback at Kent State to wide receiver in the NFL.
The Patriots signed wide receiver Danny Amendola last offseason to replace Wes Welker, who left in free agency to the Denver Broncos. Edelman wound up having more success in the Patriots’ offense than Amendola, however.
The terms of Edelman’s contract have not been disclosed.
