Wesley WoodyardThe New England Patriots could be trying to steal talent from the team that beat them in the AFC Championship Game.

The Patriots are hosting Denver Broncos free agent linebacker Wesley Woodyard on a visit, a source told Brandon Krisztal of The Denver Post. Woodyard played 14 games — starting 10 — at weak side linebacker for the Broncos last season. He recorded 84 tackles with 1.5 sacks.

Woodyard is known for his pass coverage ability, which is something the Patriots have lacked in their linebacker corps recently.

With Brandon Spikes expected to walk in free agency, the Patriots were expected to start Jerod Mayo, Dont’a Hightower and Jamie Collins at linebacker in 2014. It’s unclear how Woodyard would fit into the defense if he decided to sign with the Patriots.
