The Eagles and New York Jets essentially could complete a quarterback swap as Mark Sanchez is expected to sign with Philadelphia, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Monday, citing a source.

Sanchez was released by the Jets last week shortly before they signed former Eagles quarterback Michael Vick to a one-year, $5 million contract.

The Eagles might be the front-runners right now, but Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported Monday that the St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans also have expressed interest in Sanchez.

If the 27-year-old signal-caller does land in Philly, he’ll likely compete with fellow USC product Matt Barkley for the backup spot behind Nick Foles.

Sanchez quarterbacked the Jets to AFC Championship Game appearances in his first two NFL seasons, but his career went downhill fast. Sanchez threw 39 touchdown passes and 36 interceptions in his final two years with the Jets and was replaced by Geno Smith after suffering a shoulder injury during the preseason last year.
