There are conflicting reports, however, as Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio adds that Sproles has not yet been released by the team, and the Saints will continue to attempt to trade him. But a league source told Florio if Sproles can’t be dealt, then he will be released.

The move would free up a maximum of $3.5 million in salary cap space, according to NFL.com.

Sproles caught 71 passes for 604 yards and two touchdowns last season. The 30-year-old also rushed for 220 yards and two TDs on 53 carries.

Sproles has since confirmed he is no longer a Saint.
