vanekThe New York Islanders are definitely not a hockey organization known for making the best trades to improve their team.

In fact, the team’s trade history probably reads like a horror story to its fans.

From the organization’s most recent blunder with Thomas Vanek, to infamous, big-money deals that didn’t work out, the Islanders would probably lose if they played a game against a team made up of the players they’ve traded away.

Most of the following moves displayed in the gallery were made by then-Islanders general manager Mike Milbury. The former Bruin didn’t enjoy much success in his general manager role, as is exemplified in the list of trades compiled below.
