Steven Stamkos has been the face of the Tampa Bay Lightning franchise for a few years, and on Thursday night, he wore the “C” on his sweater for the first time as team captain.
The 24-year-old superstar, who already has scored 222 goals in six-plus NHL seasons, is the 10th captain in franchise history.
When veteran winger Martin St. Louis was traded to the New York Rangers on Wednesday, the Lightning needed a new captain, and there was only one choice.
