The Red Sox kick off their World Series defense Monday, but Boston will find it extremely difficult to repeat in 2014. Major League Baseball hasn’t had a repeat champion since the New York Yankees secured their third straight World Series title in 2000, and the 2009 Philadelphia Phillies are the only team since then to reach the World Series the season after winning a title.
