Texas Tech outfielder Zach Davis pulled out his best Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez impression Sunday afternoon.

The Red Raiders trailed Texas by a run with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the ninth when Davis, who had entered the game as a pinch runner earlier in the inning, took off from third base. The bold maneuver paid off, as Davis beat John Curtiss’ pitch to the plate to tie the game up at 2-2.

It wasn’t quite the “Sandlot” fairy-tale ending for the Raiders, though. Texas went on to score three runs — two unearned — in the top of the 12th to win 5-2.

Regardless of the outcome, Davis’ mad dash was still one of the more impressive baserunning achievements of the young season. Check it out in the video below.
