Max Novak recorded a goal and an assist while Mat Bodie and Matt Hatch each chipped in a goal to lead the top-seeded Dutchmen back to the Frozen Four for the second time in three years.

With Union leading 2-0 after two period, the Friars threatened late in the third period when Nick Saracino scored to cut the deficit to one. But Providence’s comeback hopes were dashed when Novak found Hatch in front of the net for the one-timer just over a minute later.

Union, who lost to Ferris State in the national semifinals in 2012, is ranked No. 1 in the nation for the first time in program history and they are undefeated in their past 15 games.
