Warren Buffett’s $1 Billion NCAA Bracket Sweepstakes Ends With No Winners

Sports fans who hoped to retire early by picking a perfect NCAA tournament bracket will have to wait until next year for another chance to win $1 billion.

Warren Buffett’s $1 billion NCAA basketball challenge ended Friday night when the last remaining perfect bracket was busted. The last three perfect brackets were busted when No. 8 seed Memphis defeated No. 9 seed George Washington.

For those hoping to win the ESPN bracket challenge with a perfect bracket, that dream also has been shattered.

Friday’s second-round games ruined a lot of brackets, especially when No. 14 Mercer upset No. 3 Duke in stunning fashion. Another upset that crushed many brackets was No. 11 Dayton’s improbable win over No. 6 Ohio State on Thursday.

There’s still reason for optimism, though. The top 20 participants in Buffett’s sweepstakes will win $100,000 from Quicken Loans. That’s a pretty good chunk of change.
