Adam Eaton Robs David Ortiz Of Home Run In White Sox-Red Sox Game (Video)

Chicago White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton clearly realized runs would be at a premium with Jon Lester and Chris Sale squaring off.

Eaton robbed David Ortiz of a home run in the first inning of Thursday’s Red Sox-White Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field. Ortiz acknowledged Eaton’s tremendous leaping grab by applauding the center fielder’s effort upon rounding first base.

The wind was tricky for the first two games of the teams’ series in Chicago, but Thursday brought much warmer weather, enabling the ball to carry a little bit more. Ortiz clearly put a charge into the first-inning fly ball toward deep left-center field, but Eaton timed his jump perfectly to take away what would have been the Red Sox DH’s third home run of 2014.
