Arian FosterCAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Sports fans can be very, very stupid — yes, even in New England.

Arian Foster participated in a panel on the “Social Capital of the Savvy Athlete” on Wednesday at the Harvard innovation lab with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and former NFL player and NFL players association president Domonique Foxworth. While on the panel, Foster detailed a disturbing story from one of his trips to Gillette Stadium to play the New England Patriots.

“That’s what always kills me, man,” Foster said in response to Sherman calling out fans from opposing teams who yell at him from the stands. “You go to the stadiums — no offense, but we were playing the Patriots — and this dude’s like ‘We see you (n-word).’ I’m like, ‘but you got black people on your team too.'”

Foster and Sherman said they embrace and are motivated by the hate they receive on social media.
